Heres a head ive been working on for a while. Its not really a finished piece, as i don't really constitute a floating head artwork....but i guess its like a technical demonstration.

I'm hoping to finish it off sometime as a standalone piece with an expression on that face, and an environment behind.

Very nice so far. I'm liking it. What did ya use? (If you don't mind me asking) - Great shadows and lighting. The edge of the ear and right above the lip look just a tad flat. I wanna see more though :) Great work.

All done in 3ds max 9 with textures made in photoshop.

The render took about 15 minutes (and thats with 25k hairs) using mental ray.

I think above the top lip is suffering from some UV stretching, so ill take a look at that.

the top lip looks a bit crisp, need to round it off a bit. maybe stick the ears out a bit too. the gap between the top lip and bottom of the nose(filtrum!) looks a bit long too, maybe its just me tho :S
